PlayTech History

In 1999 a group of entrepreneurs comprising of casino, multimedia, and software engineering specialists started PlayTech. Due to rightly chosen marketing strategy the company became famous quickly and got the leading positions in the online gambling industry. Thanks to the deep analysis of the online casino market the company’s specialists found industry’s drawbacks and weaknesses and Playtech found its own place in the online casino business.

In 2001 PlayTech launched Club Dice casino on version 1.1 of Playtech's client software. The casino offered real time game play, transaction histories, player comp points, a VIP club, a multiplayer mode and multi-platform compatibility. Club Dice became one of the top ten online casinos according to Jupiter Media Metrix.The same year Swiss Casino, that was the first big deal with an already existing online casino. PlayTech added 6 new games among which there were multi-line slots and progressives.

The next year PlayTech released Tropez and Gold Gate casinos which used ‘new generation’ software. In the summer such innovative things like live online support, refer-a-friend bonus programs, a compulsive gambling prevention tool appeared. The company released new games - Blackjack Switch and Multi-Line Multi-Spin Slots. Moreover they launched Casino Soleil. It was the first established European traditional casino that went online.

Live internet gaming, the very popular gambling option nowadays, were launched in 2003. Since then players have been able to play casino games communicating with live dealers. PlayTech got interested in Asian online market.

Next year the iPoker network was launched. Playtech went on working in the Asia-Pacific region. A year later Playtech got the official Certificate of RNG Evaluation from Technical Systems Testing.

In 2006 the company started to offer Videobet, a complete land gaming platform for the operators who try to make their operations more effective. The company's shares were admitted to AIM market of the London Stock Exchange.

In 2008 Playtech signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Paramount Digital Entertainment, and Playtech can now offer games featuring "Gladiator" and "The Untouchables", famous Paramount Pictures brands.
