Pontoon
Pontoon is a very exciting blackjack variant and widely regarded as one of the favorite games of many gamblers. Though Pontoon is not so well-known amongst casino players, still the extremely low house edge makes this blackjack variation very attractive. The main reason for anonymity of Pontoon is that until recently this game was just offered on Cryptologic, RTG and Microgaming platforms. Sometime later Playtech has also introduced Pontoon Blackjack to their casinos. Rules of Pontoon Pontoon is considered a bit more complicated than standard Blackjack, but at the same time it is very easy to learn. Please be accurate and attentive in learning of the gaming rules listed below: 8 standard decks are used in Pontoon, all card values correspond the ones in blackjack. All 5-card hands are paid 2:1 on the initial wager, no matter which is the point total of the hand. It also regards to the hands which were split. Evidently, this doesn't apply to the hands which have busted. All the Blackjacks (Pontoons) pay 2:1 on the initial wager. The rest player's wins pay even money. All ties are won by Dealer, with the inclusion of Pontoons and 5-card hands. Below you will find the rank of hands in Pontoon: - Any blackjack (that is called a Pontoon) Any 5-card non-busted hand (each 5-card hand has the same value regardless of point total) The same rules of the standard Blackjack from here on down a hand with a total of 21 with less than 5 cards is the next highest hand, on the contrary - any busted hand is considered the worst hand. Having placed a wager, each player gets 2 cards face-up and the dealer has 2 cards face-down. The dealer should check his cards to check the presence of Blackjack (Pontoon), and when having one, the players lose all their wagers. Players must Hit up to 5 cards all the point totals less than 15. Players can Hit or “Twist”, as it is known in Pontoon at any point they want, including the time after doubling down. Players can Double Down on any hand (2,3, or 4-card), but they can double down only once per hand. Also doubling is possible on split hands. It is possible to split up to 2 times for a player, for a max of 3 hands. The players can only split on cards of equal rank, Aces are included. While splitting Aces, a Pontoon pays out at odds 2:1, and both doubling and splitting are possible. After all the players' hands get completed; the dealer plays out his hand. The dealer draws to all totals of 17 or higher, but he must hit all the soft 17’s. All the dealer's non-busted 5-card hands are of the same value as the player's 5-card hand.
